Black Mother’s 4 Justice, Inc. (“BM4J”) was created to provide a safe space where mothers of children wrongfully or rightfully incarcerated can talk openly about their child’s case, serving maximum sentences for minor offenses, etc. without being judged. Since the pandemic, prisons have been on lockdown with no visitation, therefore, mothers have been unable to visit their children and are going weeks, sometimes months, without speaking to them. The fear of Covid-19 is weighing heavy on their hearts and they are suffering in silence with no one to talk to. Many have lost their jobs and can no longer afford to put money on their child’s books for phone calls, toiletries, etc. With your help, BM4J will provide them with phone cards, monthly stipends, and/or assist with transportation costs once visitation resumes. We educate mothers about systemic racism to free them of the hurt, pain, shame, and guilt they are consumed with and begin the healing process. The healthier mothers are when their children are released from prison, the better the chances are that they won’t be repeat offenders. Your donations will help us help them. Thank you.
